how long hav u been playin snooker??
  • drail2007
actually true ;) further the red(s) are away from black means more effort on the positional play
  • supermanbowman
ye,thats true i suppose, but its not that hard if your a half decsent player(like yourself)to pot the reds near the blue and get on the black.the hardest thing about putting reds below the black is the red you put close to the cush(that 1 can sometimes be a bit of a bastard lol
  • paulsy41
Actually it is easier to get a 147 at the line up doing it your way becuase then you don't have any reds on the other side of the blue which means those being the hardest reds you don't need to get position on those. Though your way is actually harder if you were taking any colour. In saying all that there are many ways to play the line up,what ever suits.

i play alot of snooker, wen i do this i put 3 reds below the black spot and doing that makes it abit more difficult
  • paulsy41
You will probably find that you have technique problems, try to get some coaching or at the very least buy an instructional book or video on snooker, good luck.

Well done paulsy! I've watched a few of your videos and I am very impressed. My problem is I only have a small table at home and these practice drills don't work on it (there isn't enough space). I'll maybe try with about 6/7 reds in a line up to the blue or the long-potting drill to see if that helps my game at all.

I only play about once a fortnight at a snooker club, and my highest competitive break on a proper table (from about 100 frames in total over the last couple of years) is only 22!

Hit the object ball with a very thick contact and put plenty of top spin on the cue ball and play the shot with a fair bit of power.

heloo im a 12 yr old i need help on how to do a banana shot as u shown on other vid i always fuck my positioning as im on a pink and black for example i've seen u how u do it but i dont understand if u could replay i would really be grateful thx

One big thing to know is that when you play a stun shot (that means that the cue ball is skidding when contact with the object ball is made,i.e. no spin on cue ball.) the cueball will take a right angle of departure from the direction that the object ball takes.
  • paulsy41
Unfortunately to do a lineup with all blacks it is inevitable that the cue ball will move about more than say taking any colour after the red,but I am sure you are aware of this fact.
  • beerkes
the white ball is moving to much for a line up.
Still a good clearance but not good control on the white ball.

I dont want to argue btw with the comments i made about the highest break, i dont know im just saying it as i see it as im not sure. Id like to leave by saying super playing and your control is brilliant.
  • CarpMagic95
i know it wont ever happen but strictly speaking it can and that means 147 is NOT the maximum possible break, maximum means maximum and 155 is the maximum. or am i wrong? if so why isnt the 8 included as its a break? the colour counted as a red as it would in the freeball situation then the black, thats a break of 8 without losing any reds leaving 147 still on the table to make a break of 155. I worked this out years ago but havent heard anything about it! is there a rule to say it isnt so?
  • CarpMagic95
the highest break possible in snooker is 155. so why do they call 147 the maximum when maximum means the maximum? ok theres a Foul and someone leaves the other a freeball cos its behind a colour. DONT INCLUDE THE 4 FOR THE FOUL. Anyway guy takes the colour as a red & Then the black gives an official break of 8 yeah? and theres still all reds and colours on the table! so he does all reds and blacks then the colours for a 147 and add that to the 8 he got for the freeball colour and black earlier
